WHERE GOD’S POSITION WHEN WE MAKE DECISION?

Here’s the thing..
We live day by day making a lot of decisions. Sometimes people have to face life and death situation everyday in their lives, and that makes decision making not as easy as many other people, but still even if we live an ordinary life with simple decision to make, every decision that we make can change the course of life. And the next question is, “where is God’s position when we make decision, especially the big one? Do we put God aside when we make decision? Or maybe we put God far away in heaven? Or we make God our partner in making decision?

We put God aside
This is what usually happens. We feel that we are wise enough to make our own decision. So we don’t need God to make a decision. Or maybe we think that we don’t need to bother God for every ‘little thing’ that happens in our lives. Some people think, “When a president wants to make a decision, that’s when God’s advice is needed.” When there is a life and death situation, that’s when God is needed. If it is only about our lives, we don’t need God, that’s why God gave us a free will.” Is that true? Is that the reason God gave us a free will? Saul made decision on his own, and God took His Spirit away from him (1 Samuel 16:14). When Moses decided to believe in what he saw rather than believe in what he saw rather than believe in God’s promises, he never set his feet upon the promises land (Numbers 14). Though God gave us a free will, He doesn’t want us to be arrogant and misguided. He wants us to honor Him in everything we do. Men are proven to be reckless through out the history when they decide to put God aside.

We put God far away in heaven
Maybe we seldom hear a statement like this, “Oh Lord..show me Your way”. It sounds good, right? But it is not good if the next thing we do is just wait and do nothing! We seldom put God far away in heaven, so that the only way He can give us guidance is to come down from heaven and talk with thunderous sound. So it means, if there is no sound from heaven, there is no guidance from God, and we have to wait...wait...wait...and do nothing. A few people make “not hear from God yet” a reason for their stagnation, a reason they haven’t made any more in their life. When people do this, they will usually blame God for not “coming from heaven and talking to them”. When we are in the airport, we cannot blame the airline if we miss the plane just because we don’t buy the ticket. That’s silly, because we cannot make the airline come to us, ofer us a ticket, and take us to the plane by a wheel chair

We make God our partner
There are some parts that God needs to do in our lives, but there is also something that we need to do with our lives. God doesn’t want us to walk alone and decide everything by ourselves. God also wants us to grow in knowledge, character, and wisdom. That’s why we need to make God as our partner in life. God doesn’t want us to be robots, that’s why he gave us a free will, but God doesn’t want us to be arrogant because of it. We need God to guide us, but God needs us to make the decision. Let’s make God our partner in our life.

“One night with the King changes everything. And just one day in His porch could forever change my heart. One moment in His presence and I’ll never be the same”

Langkah orang ditentukan oleh Tuhan, tetapi bagaimanakah manusia dapat mengerti jalan hidupnya? (Ams 20:24)
